Blackwater Park
1716 N. High Street, Franklin, Virginia 23851
Through a grant from the Master Naturalists and Riverkeeper Program, the Franklin Garden Club was able to combine with our own funds to build a conservation/beautification project. Once Blackwater Park began in Franklin, our Club began looking for something special to contribute to the park. We donated a large amount to build a 1.5 mile trail around the upper line of the park, called the “Franklin Garden Club Trail.” The park also consists of an 800-foot elevated boardwalk and educational signage overlooking the river’s cypress-tupelo swamp ecosystem. We are again in the process of deciding what other educational project would be beneficial to the park and its visitors.
